The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous and balanced educational program for young people aged 16 to 19 who were taught in a course of two years and leads to examinations. It is an excellent preparation for college and adult life, and enjoys wide recognition among the world's leading universities.

The curriculum

The IB  Diploma Programme students study six subjects at higher level or standard level. They must choose one subject from each group of 1 to 5. Thus,
ensures a wide experience in languages, social sciences, experimental sciences and mathematics. The sixth subject may be of Group 6 (Arts) or any of the other groups.

The program also has three components that constitute the common core: the extended essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) These are intended to broaden the educational experience of students and encourage them to implement their knowledge and understanding.

The Theory of Knowledge course invites students to reflect on the nature of knowledge through critical analysis of different forms of knowledge (perception, emotion, language and reason) and types of knowledge (scientific, artistic, mathematical and historical).

With Creativity, Action and Service, students actively participate in specific projects outside the classroom and learn from this experience. They may combine these three components or specific activities of each of them.

At the end of the program, students take written tests that are corrected by external IB examiners. Also undertake evaluation at school that are assessed by teachers and then reviewed by external moderators, or sent directly to external examiners.

The diploma is awarded to those students who gain at least 24 points, provided they have achieved a certain level of performance in the entire program and met the requirements of Creativity, Action and Service. The highest total score that can be awarded to a student is 45.
