The American International School of Bolivia
The language program at AISB sets us apart from other schools in the country. Our language program develops students to be fully bilingual in English and Spanish and to develop proficiency in other additional languages.
Known as the international language, English is the primary language in the world of business, ACADEMICS, and other areas. AISB is committed to teaching English at a high level. Most instruction is delivered in English so that our graduates are completely fluent in the language. The School's expectation is that every graduate will possess a high level of academic English proficiency that will allow them to be highly competitive in universities worldwide.
Spanish is one of the official languages of Bolivia and the native language of most AISB students. Non-Spanish speaking students who enter the school, especially in their early years, quickly become fluent in Spanish from interaction with their peers and the school’s Spanish program. In Primary and Secondary School, all students take Spanish courses according to the Bolivian National Curriculum. The School's expectation is that every graduate will possess a high level of academic Spanish proficiency that will allow them to be highly competitive in universities worldwide.
Quechua is one of the official languages of Bolivia and it is taught at the Primary and Secondary School as an additional national language.
Mandarin is offered as an elective extra-curricular course in Primary and Secondary School. The Confucius Institute at Universidad Mayor de San Simón provides the instruction of Mandarin at AISB, except at the IB level.
French is offered as an elective extra-curricular course in Primary and Secondary School. The Alliance Francaise of Cochabamba provides the instruction of French at AISB, except at the IB level.
